Where are all my beauty junkies at? You may be like me and not be makeup obsessed or into beauty and skincare  all that much (getting more into it though!) but have some friends that are. It can be so hard shopping for someone who always has the latest palettes and buys every new product that a Youtube beauty guru launches… but I have a few suggestions for you! While it wasn’t intentional, every product mentioned is under $50 so you’re not putting a huge dent into your pocket with these fun products. Enjoy!

Products featured:

  1. BeautyBio Bright Eyes Set – The perfect set for the tired mama, college student, or full time worker! This comes with de-puffing and cooling eye gels and an adorable sleep mask.
  2. Herbivore Botanicals Coco Rose Luxe Hydration Trio (Limited Edition) – Comes with a body polish, hydrating facial mist, and lip conditioner. It’s also paraben-free, sulfate-free, phthalate-free, and silicone-free for those who like green & clean beauty products!

Finding Gifts for New Parents with Incredibundles (Plus A Giveaway)!

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’re probably familiar with Incredibundles! Royce and I got the book bundle box when he was around 5 months old, and some of the books we received are still some of his favorites that he reaches for daily (see the post here). This time around we’re going to share one of their boxes that would be perfect for gifting this holiday season for any new or expectant mother – The Diaper & Wipes Subscription!

When our bundle arrived, it was complete with the softest plush teddy bear, three small Pamper’s diapers, and the certificates to redeem our diaper subscription. It all comes bundled together in one of the company’s trademark chic reusable storage boxes, perfect for presenting at an event – plus it’s the gift that keeps on giving throughout the year!

After you make an account with Incredibundles, you can go to the diaper and baby wipes subscription tabs and select the brand of the diapers/wipes and sizes you’d like for each month. There’s three options- Pampers, Huggies, Luvs, or Member’s Mark and different kinds of diapers from each brand. For example, Pamper’s has Easy Ups training pants, Swaddlers, Swaddlers sensitive, Cruisers diapers and more! I was surprised at how easy this entire process was – especially since your shipping address will save.  There’s nothing worse than running low on diapers and wipes and having to rush to the store to get another box, so getting diapers and wipes delivered straight to your door is the perfect gift for new parents who already have a lot on their plate.

Make sure to check out the other bundles available such as the book bundles with premium board formatted books or the bath bundles that are filled with different toys, tools, and even apparel to make bath time fun for all! We all know that there are tons of baby products on the market right now and it can hard to decide what to get for a new parent. Save yourself the hassle and grab an affordable gift from Incredibundles this season!

Lastly, want to win a THREE MONTH SUPPLY of diapers and wipes? All details can be found on my Instagram (click here) and for an additional entry, leave a comment on this blog post! Good luck, friends!

4 Ingredient Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

Can you believe these cookies required only FOUR ingredients? I’ve seen recipes similar to this on Pinterest and honestly didn’t think I’d be able to make them. I’m not as good in the kitchen as my Grandmary or mom so most of the time when I try a recipe, the food still turns out fairly good but not great. But these… these are amazing!

This recipe makes the softest (but won’t fall apart) cookies you’ll probably ever eat! You bite into them and they basically melt in your mouth. I usually need to pair almond milk with my cookies but these are moist enough that you can just grab one from the cookie jar without a beverage needed.

1 box of vanilla cake mix

1 15 oz can of 100% pure pumpkin

1 tablespoon of cinnamon

1 cup of milk chocolate chips

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2. Mix all contents using a hand mixer or a fork (fork works just as well but takes longer)

3. Line your cookie sheet using parchment paper

4. Scoop cookie batter and place onto your cookie sheet in roughly 1.5 inch size balls

5. Place cookies two inches apart

6. Bake for 12-15 minutes (the larger your cookie scoops, the longer they’ll need to bake) or until you see the top becoming golden brown

7. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving!

How easy is this! This recipe made roughly 30 cookies for us which was way more than I expected. Heads up, they never really look done because of the consistency of the batter, but for our last batch I left them in for about 18 minutes to see what would happen and they were just as good. If you’re not a big baker, this is the perfect recipe to try that’s sure to please (and fill up!) many.

Freshly Picked Favorites – October 2018

Freshly Picked October 2018

My new monthly series “Freshly Picked Favorites” is HERE! Towards the end of each month I’ll round up a few pieces I’ve tried and love, along with some pieces that may not have been purchased yet but I have my eyes on. Everything you see is pretty affordable at under $100 and perfect for this cozy, fall weather 🙂

One product I want to put in the spotlight is the Bliss wet/dry jelly cleanser. I got to use this after I went on a fun a day date to Milwaukee where I actually wore a full face of makeup which is really rare. I came home and grabbed the sample size of this that I received in my October Target beauty box (see this post for a full review) and not only does it smell fresh and feminine, but it truly does remove all makeup and leave your skin feeling silky soft.

The J. Crew sweater shown above is so fun! I’ve noticed color-block sweaters and cardigans are a huge hit this season and I love that this one has colors that aren’t necessarily traditional to wear in the fall. Plaid scarves will never go out of style and the one here is very affordable at $24! The black OTK boots shown I’ve actually purchased and are on sale currently. They’re a staple to every girl’s wardrobe – seriously, I reach for these practically every day because they go with everything. Another staple piece you need to grab is a good pair of denim jeans since in the fall and winter it gets a bit too chilly to wear denim that’s super distressed. Lastly, I love this dainty little initialed Kate Spade necklace and would be perfect gift to give!

This weekend we’re stopping at our favorite local bakery for fall-themed treats and enjoying the end of Dougie’s week off of work. What are your plans for the end of October?

Target Beauty Box – October 2018

I finally got my hands on a Target beauty box! When they first launched, I was SO ready to order one but they sold out quickly. I’m not normally a subscription-box fan simply because you normally don’t get something you’d use in each box and it’s another monthly fee on top of the many bills we already have, haha! I love that anyone can buy this box online and how affordable it is. They go FAST, but if you sign up for Target’s emails then you’ll be the first to know when they release. This month they had two boxes – the classic version of the beauty box with a mix of products from different categories and a eye-themed box. I’ll be giving you my first impression on each product featured and a little information about them too.

My favorite thing about these boxes is the price. Retailing at $7 each with free shipping, you’re getting more than your money’s worth for sample sizes of 5 different products. You also you get a $3 off coupon for any beauty purchase over $15 in each box which definitely comes in handy when you’re grabbing essential beauty items during your shopping trip!

Classic Beauty Box

Love Beauty & Planet Volume Shampoo & Conditioner – I was really excited about this product because it’s made for those with fine/thin hair who are lacking volume. Even though my hair is curly, I’ve never had thick hair and I don’t like to get layers put in my hair which usually helps with dimension and volume naturally. This product smells SO good and while I haven’t noticed a huge difference in my hair yet, I will say that it doesn’t dry out my hair or make it more frizzy like others I’ve tried have so I’m definitely going to keep using it.

Bliss Make-Up Melt Dry/Wet Jelly Cleanser – Another cleaner beauty product that I was happy to receive. It’s gentle but effective and sensitive skin friendly. You can use this on an eye pad or directly on your hands and massage it into your skin and even over your eyes to remove makeup and cleanse. From the scent alone, you’ll want to try this product!

Tom’s Luminous White Toothpaste – I’ve used Tom’s products in the past and was glad to see a product in this box so more people can try it. While I normally don’t use toothpaste with fluoride, it’s supposed to help you get visibly whiter teeth within 2 weeks so I may give it a try 🙂

Olay Total Effects Whips Moisturizer – Right off the bat, this product is as lightweight as advertised. It feels like whip cream on your skin! This product is for anyone who wants to reduce dark spots, minimize the look of pores, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, enhance brightness, even skin tone appearance, and of course moisturize! It is on the expensive side for a full size product retailing at $28.99 – so this sample size alone was worth the price of the box.

Cetaphil Body & Face Moisturizing Lotion – I already wasn’t thrilled about this product from the get-go only because I’ve heard of their products before and many have stronger chemicals that I try to avoid. After trying this lotion, I can say that it’s thinner and runnier than I’d normally buy. This product is flat out a no from me and I’d never buy it, but it has good reviews from many others who claim that it’s not greasy and helps with acne-prone skin.

October Eye Box

Acure Undereye Hydrogels – I haven’t tried this product yet and personally don’t need to. I’m going to keep this product though so I can test it after baby #2 arrives since I probably won’t be getting much sleep 😉

Sonia Kashuk Brow Line & Spoolie Brush – I was thrilled to get this one simply because it seems to be a full size product. Both ends are pretty soft, but that’s not a plus in my book because I like my brow brushes to be firmer to apply product to. I haven’t tested this out but I have heard great things about her line at Target.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara – I tested this mascara and WHOA! I really can tell the difference. I’m picky with mascaras because I feel like I’ve tried a handful of drugstore options but this one is definitely worth getting your hands on!

Covergirl Get In Line Eyeliner in Matte Black- First thing I noticed was this was also a full size product. Retailing at $7.99, if you want to test this product then you should get the box since you’re already saving money. The tip is really fine which is great for women like me who struggle to put on eyeliner and seems to be smudge proof after I tested it once.

Lumify Eyedrops – I can’t review this product simply because I don’t need it right now. These are geared towards people who wear contacts and have redness in their eyes but apparently they work in one minute which intrigued me. The reviews are great for this product so if you’re in the market for a new brand of eyedrops, I would try out Lumify’s!

The Importance Of Making Time

Hat: Sold out, similar here | Dress: Old Navy | Sandals: Sold out, similar here | Watches: c/o Daniel Wellington (mine here & Dougie’s here) Bracelet: c/o Daniel Wellington  (use code BLOOMWITHSTYLE to save 15% off on EVERY order now through November 15th)

Dougie & I’s entire relationship (plus the news of baby #2!) was a shock for many people. Besides a few friends who knew we were “talking”, we kept it pretty private. It seemed like everything was happening SO fast for everyone involved even though we had reconnected for a good period of time.

However, Dougie and I actually met in high school! We kept in touch and chatted here and there over the years. We had crushes on each other in high school but never pursued anything, and honestly just chatted about things happening at our high school music, and sports most of the time (this was back when I actually had a chance to watch TV, lol)! I wish we had started something then and there, but as you probably know, things usually don’t work out as we plan and our lives can take unexpected twists and turns!

Now that we’re living together, committed for LIFE (whoa, still kind of weird to say), have sweet little Royce and expecting baby #2, life is a bit harder in some ways. Dougie’s work schedule isn’t a traditional one, I work from home, and we have a toddler to look after. That means it’s easier now than it ever has been to get caught up in the chaos, exhaustion, and busy schedule that our day to day activities bring.

Making time for one another is challenging… Well, at least we thought it was for a while. It’s a lot less complicated when you realize that you don’t always have to schedule dinner and a movie and dress up for you to enjoy each other’s company. Now that we’re on a tighter budget and planning for the new baby’s arrival, we’ve discovered ways to spend time together without emptying our pockets.

Netflix & Chill – Yes, as typical and boring as it may sound, it’s one of the easiest ways to do something together. Most nights we lay in bed and watch a show together (we’re currently bingeing Jane The Virgin until I fall asleep, haha!) but some days we order take out and watch it together in our living room for a little change up.

Eating Dinner Together – Whether we have Royce or not, it’s nice to sit down and actually have a meal together and talk to one another. That’s something my family didn’t do much when I was younger, so I want to make it a tradition for ours. Doesn’t have to be fancy at all, trust me. Some days it’s Hamburger Helper we’re consuming over conversation 😉

Shopping  – No, I don’t mean you need to hit up Nordstrom and spend a rack together! One thing that I do weekly is take a trip to the grocery store to get food for us and any other household necessities. It’s always more fun when Dougie tags along and we often have a good, short talk in the car or even in the check-out line. While this is a chore for most, it can turn into a more fun experience when you go together.

Picnic at the Park – This is something I’ve always wanted to do! You can buy pre-made snacks and treats from the store and wine if you’re a drinker, or even make the food yourself. Going during the golden hour would be even more romantic.

Roller or Ice Skating – For some reason, I always forget that we have both of these activities to do! It’s fairly affordable and you’re sure to get a laugh in in the rink because one of you will probably fall or stumble a few times!

Going on a Hike/Walking – Walking is something I use to do a lot when it was just Royce & I, and Dougie will gladly admit it’s not his cup of tea. However, my favorite memory of us was when we were walking at Anderson Japanese Gardens in my hometown and feeding the fish – later that evening he proposed, which is another reason why it’s one of the best times I’ve had with him!

“Love is given to us as a time, but to keep it always, we must make it a place.”

Let me conclude by saying I’ve have a billion chances to get things around the house done when Royce is away – half the time I make a mental list of things I want to accomplish that day! However, I realize we rarely get moments to ourselves as a couple, so I usually soak them up with Dougie. Most of the time, we lay in bed and talk to each other about anything that may come up, and sometimes end up laughing so hard that I have to run to the bathroom! Those simple little things can become the best moments. Here’s a friendly reminder that no matter how jam-packed your schedule is, schedule time for yourself and your partner and make it a priority. What’s the secret to a long lasting, beautiful relationship or marriage? Well… there isn’t one, but there are a whole lot of ways you can fail, and not making time for each other is a big one.

Affordable Fall Fashion & A Fun, Fall Bucket List!

*This post contains affiliate links.

Eeeek! Can you believe it’s fall? I mean, technically it’s not… but in Illinois most apple orchards have been open (or just opened this weekend, like mine!) so that basically means it’s fall, right? Royce and I met a friend and her daughter and got to eat apple pie, drink fresh apple cider (sooo good!) and brought home a dozen warm, apple cinnamon donuts. It was his first time going and he loved it! Year before last I was about 9 months pregnant with him, and last year we simply didn’t make it out together! It’s not stroller-friendly in all parts of the orchard, so if you do have a little one, I recommend you bringing them when you have a helper or two to watch them if you want to go in and shop for decor and other little food items, or wait until they’re in the walking stage.

If you couldn’t tell already, fall is my favorite season by far! I love everything from the cozy knit sweaters to the fun outdoor activities that you can do with the family. Don’t even get me started with pumpkin spice lattes! Starbucks is releasing them earlier than ever this year and I have NO complaints. Aside from the good food, the fashion during this season is the best. I’m a fan of oversized everything because 1. You don’t have to worry about your body flaws showing (anyone with the mom pouch knows what I’m talking about)  2. LAYERING. I love keeping a cardigan handy so I can wear a tee when it’s warm out and then toss on the cardigan when it gets a little chillier in the evening. Everyone feels more comfortable in layers usually too! 3. The colors are my favorite! Give me all that rust orange, maroon, olive, plum, and neutrals. I personally feel like I look better in darker colors and they flow right into winter fashion!

Above are a few pieces I’ve been eyeing for fall! Hover over each image to shop it from the retailer’s site. The best part? Everything I linked is under $75! I made sure to keep everything affordable so you can update your fall wardrobe (just one thing on the bucket list below!) even on a budget. Happy shopping, friends!
Make sure to make your own bucket list for this season to keep things exciting for yourself and your family! If you’re a bit stumped, check out mine. Everyone’s list may vary depending on the holidays you celebrate, traditions you carry on, and local activities. I can’t wait to check off things on mine!

From Brick & Mortar to Working Remotely – How I Began Teaching From Home with DaDa

This post is sponsored by DaDa. As always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

It brings me such joy to share my story about working for DaDa! Recently, I was able to land a work from home job which is perfect for my family’s needs. No matter what path of life you’re in currently, working from home does sound pretty enticing, right?

In order to figure out if working from home is ideal for you, think of a few reasons as to why you would want to do it. For me, the reasons were easy to find. I wanted to have more freedom in my schedule and only work specific hours. In my previous jobs at brick and mortars, I was not able to set my schedule exactly like I needed. I had to take into consideration the store hours, the busiest days, and even my coworkers’ schedules.  I desired more time during the day to spend with my son. Before when I had to walk out the door to go to work, he would sadly watch me go and sometimes even cry after me. It truly broke my heart! Another big reason is that when my son is sick, I want to be able to give him the proper care and attention he needs and not have to rely on another family member to do so.

If you still haven’t found your why, ponder over these questions a little: Would you like to save money on gas or fares for commuting? Would you like to cut back on the amount of money you spend shopping for new work apparel? Would you prefer less office distractions or co-worker debates and drama? Would you enjoy a custom environment where you can decorate how you please and be as loud as you’d like on breaks?

Why I Enjoy Working For DaDa

After teaching for a month, getting to know the platform, and receiving my paycheck (yay!) I am happy to explain more about DaDa to you. Let me start by saying that I never thought I’d actually become a teacher! If you asked me a year ago if I would consider it, I would probably say no. However, I didn’t know teaching online was even a thing! Personally, I believe teachers are very undervalued here in the US. They truly are heroes and shape our children to learn and grow beyond just the educational aspect. With DaDa, I never have felt that way. I receive a generous pay, have the best students, and have collected several bonuses already within one month of working!

Do You Have To Spend A Lot Of Money Like A Traditional School Teacher?

I did a bit of research and learned that there IS a little investment into becoming an online teacher. However, compared to what a traditional teacher pays, it is very affordable. You must have a computer and webcam and reliable internet access. If you’re reading this blog post, you can probably check off both of those requirements. My computer has a webcam built in, but if yours doesn’t this one is under $25! A headset with microphone is also required, (here is one that is normally $20 but currently on sale for $15!), a sky blue shirt which can be polo-style or a traditional tee, which I personally prefer (this one is less than $10) and some fun classroom decorations to put on the wall behind where you’ll be seated. Fun fact: Since all of my sky blue shirts were graphic tees, I just turned them inside out to start out 😉 I found all teaching supplies in the Dollar Tree’s teacher section or Target Dollar Spot like these hand puppets I use for my younger students who are just starting and may be shy, along with the flash cards. If you have children of your own, know that these won’t go to waste! I use the flash cards in my spare time to teach my son the alphabet, numbers, and shapes! Everything that I listed is a small investment you can complete over time, and you can even print things off at home using free online resources, including the DaDa logo that they provide.

Work Schedule & Teaching On Your Terms

While your schedule is very flexible, you need to be committed to the contract hours that you set for yourself. This ensures that you gain regular students quickly and you are a reliable employee! If you’re unsure of how you you’ll like it, if you are offered a position you can sign the 6-month contract rather than 1-year. Teachers are required to work at least 2 hours per day and 2 days per week. If you do the minimum, the 2 days can only be on the weekends, not during the week. Available class time slots are between 6-9:10 pm (Shanghai time) Monday through Friday, and 10am-12:06pm/2pm-4:06pm/6pm-9:10pm (Shanghai time) on the weekends. You can use a time zone converter to learn what your working hours would be according to your location. Even though you have the comfort of working from home, you need to have the proper space and time that allows you to focus on teaching. I personally scheduled my classes at the times where I know my son Royce will be sleep and I can be distraction free!

After a month or two of working with DaDa and having a good attendance record, you can apply for part-time classes. These are extra classes outside of your contract hours. Some apply often and are able to work full time, while others like myself only apply when I have extra time and would like an additional boost in my income for that month. You get to set your own hours with part-time and select from different time slots offered, which is great for those who are saving for a vacation or even something on the expensive side that they want! Many traditional brick and mortar jobs don’t allow you to add on hours whenever you need them.

Now for the big question: What is the pay rate? While I can’t disclose my exact salary, I was pleased to accept the offer that I received. Your pay is determined on your performance of the mock-class which is with a real student. They look for lots of  TPR (Total Physical Response) and enthusiasm while teaching and interacting with the student. Pay starts at $14 USD and can go up to $25 if you have a bachelor’s degree or higher, teaching experience, and truly have fun while teaching the student! You are also evaluated after one year of teaching and can request a raise during this time. The pay is generous and higher than what I’ve ever received at a previous company. It has been such a blessing to my family and our financial needs.

Easy Breakfast Ideas For Picky Toddlers

happy tot happy family yogurt organic breakfast

happy tot happy family yogurt organic toddler breakfast idea

This post is sponsored by Happy Family Yogurt but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

An every day struggle for most parents is getting your children to eat. Well, not just anything – but HEALTHY food. Thank goodness Royce enjoys many veggies now like potatoes, carrots and zucchini to name a few, but it took us a while to get here. I actually posted in a mom group asking if anyone had any suggesstions on how to make my picky toddler enjoy other food than sweets. For a few weeks straight he was living off fruit and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. In order to get some veggies in, I’d sneak in spinach and carrots into his smoothies but it still wasn’t helping the fact that he didn’t like the TASTE of anything that wasn’t sweet.

Through our struggles, I found some really easy breakfast ideas for him that helped fill his belly first thing in the morning. I like to think that starting the first meal off great will set the standard for the rest of the day!

  1. Egg muffins – I usually mix peppers, turkey sausage and onions with my egg and sprinkle a little cheese on top. They are also great for snacks on the go!
  2. Smoothies – As said above, this my favorite and easiest way to sneak in veggies for Royce. They’re super easy to make in the morning and I love using this blender for them!
  3. Happy Tots yogurt – Royce loves these! While the brand has a bunch of different food (we’ve tried almost all of their baby food pouches and the alphabet snacks ) our latest discovery was the yogurt. I grabbed a few the last time at our local Walmart and Royce loved it so much the first time that I had to give him a second! It’s full of probiotics and Vitamin D which makes me even happier too.
  4. French toast – I didn’t have french toast that often growing up so I completely forgot about this. I love topping it with fresh fruit or even serving yogurt on the side for dipping rather than syrup. This is another one of Royce’s favorites!
  5. Oatmeal – While this is a classic, I’ve had fun trying out new flavors with Royce and he seems to like almost all of them. His new favorite is apples & cinnamon, and you can even make your own the night before and serve cold. I’m going to try the overnight method next week (click here for the recipe I’ll be following) because I run late in the morning more often than not, and need to feed my little one’s belly before sending him off to daycare.

These are all really simple meals for toddler and I often give them to Royce throughout the day! Have you tried Happy Tots yogurt? I’ve got a coupon just for you to save – click here!

Life Update & Enjoy Flowers Review

Since this post may be a little long, I’m going to break it down into two sections so if you’re only interested in reading about one, you’ll save a lot of time! First I’m going to do a little life update on school, a recent job change, and blogging.

As you (probably) know, I studied floral design through Ashworth College for the past year or so and recently graduated with honors! I’m so excited to be done and be able to take another step towards my career. With that said, I used to work at a local wholesale florist and it was not my favorite job for a number of reasons that I won’t go into detail about. It was a great place for me to start and learn more about the industry, but I wouldn’t have even put it in my 5 year plan. I recently got the opportunity to work at a shop which is more of my speed and where I want to be anyway, so I didn’t think too much when it came down to leaving the wholesaler. It’s better for me in a number of ways and I also get to spend more time with Royce which is the biggest thing for me right now. I can work harder down the line when he gets into preschool and has a set schedule, but for now while he’s little I want to spend as much time as possible with him.

Now blogging is a little different, because while I do sharing little details about my life and my favorite fashion items, baby products, and more, I’m not sure this is what I want to do forever. As of this moment, my blog is going to be something that I take a little less serious and post when I want, what I want, and don’t stress over meeting huge deadlines with certain posts. While working from home all the time would be great, it’s not as glamorous as people may think it is and actually involves a lot dedicated time. I also don’t want Royce to remember his childhood as being home with me all the time but my face stuck staring at a computer or phone screen all day either.

Enjoy Flowers review time! I was lucky enough to try this subscription service and let me just say they did not disappoint. From someone who is around flowers often and I know what good quality is, Enjoy Flowers did an excellent job making sure the flowers I received were still beautiful, fresh, and ready to be gifted to someone else (or used in your own home)! With Mother’s Day coming up, I think this would be the perfect subscription service for Mom. How many times do you buy fresh flowers for yourself? Not often, right? But when you get fresh flowers, you’re always so happy and adore how beautiful they look placed in your home. Enjoy Flowers offers different styles of bouquets and arrangements and even wedding flower service for a great price!

I’ll be rounding up some of my favorite gifts for mom next week! What are your go-to gift ideas?
