Fall Fun & OshKosh Overalls Day

This post is sponsored by Everywhere Agency on behalf of OshKosh B’gosh; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own. Collaborations like this make Bloom With Style possible!

I remember being younger and my mom always dressing me in overalls. I did NOT want to wear them because 1) I wanted to dress myself 2) I didn’t think they were fashion-forward. Arguing with my mom over what I wore was a daily battle, but now that I’m a mother myself I look back on photos of myself and realize how cute my outfits were. Yep, I’m admitting it: My mom was right.

I can totally understand why she wanted to dress me in them now. Overalls are so easy to match with other things and good for several seasons, they actually stay on your kid (unlike lots of baby/toddler jeans), AND they’re simply adorable! I got the set that Royce is wearing at the OshKosh store closest to us and I was relieved when I saw how easy they were to find. They had an entire section on a wall with toddler overalls hanging so I could see them all at once and get a good idea of the pairs we wanted to buy.

What I love about OshKosh is how easy it is to find an entire outfit for him! It’s definitely my go-to place for kids fashion. The pair of overalls we bought have a warm grey flannel lined on the inside that shows when you cuff up his pant legs, so I paired them with the grey flannel bodysuit underneath. Not only is this set perfect together, but both pieces can be worn separately with other items.

On October 25th, OshKosh will be celebrating its second annual Overalls Day! I’m so excited we can participate this year and have the chance to win prizes by sharing photos and using the hashtag #OverallsDay. OshKosh will be giving away $100 gift cards every hour from 10am – 5pm EST on Overalls Day. You can enter on Instagram or Twitter. You can also enter on Facebook and one lucky winner will receive a $500 card (yes, you can participate in both for double the chances of winning – how cool is that?) If you’re into made up holidays and will be celebrating as well, make sure to share your favorite photos with us!

Easy Breakfast Ideas For Picky Toddlers

This post is sponsored by Happy Family Yogurt but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

An every day struggle for most parents is getting your children to eat. Well, not just anything – but HEALTHY food. Thank goodness Royce enjoys many veggies now like potatoes, carrots and zucchini to name a few, but it took us a while to get here. I actually posted in a mom group asking if anyone had any suggesstions on how to make my picky toddler enjoy other food than sweets. For a few weeks straight he was living off fruit and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. In order to get some veggies in, I’d sneak in spinach and carrots into his smoothies but it still wasn’t helping the fact that he didn’t like the TASTE of anything that wasn’t sweet.

Through our struggles, I found some really easy breakfast ideas for him that helped fill his belly first thing in the morning. I like to think that starting the first meal off great will set the standard for the rest of the day!

  1. Egg muffins – I usually mix peppers, turkey sausage and onions with my egg and sprinkle a little cheese on top. They are also great for snacks on the go!
  2. Smoothies – As said above, this my favorite and easiest way to sneak in veggies for Royce. They’re super easy to make in the morning and I love using this blender for them!
  3. Happy Tots yogurt – Royce loves these! While the brand has a bunch of different food (we’ve tried almost all of their baby food pouches and the alphabet snacks ) our latest discovery was the yogurt. I grabbed a few the last time at our local Walmart and Royce loved it so much the first time that I had to give him a second! It’s full of probiotics and Vitamin D which makes me even happier too.
  4. French toast – I didn’t have french toast that often growing up so I completely forgot about this. I love topping it with fresh fruit or even serving yogurt on the side for dipping rather than syrup. This is another one of Royce’s favorites!
  5. Oatmeal – While this is a classic, I’ve had fun trying out new flavors with Royce and he seems to like almost all of them. His new favorite is apples & cinnamon, and you can even make your own the night before and serve cold. I’m going to try the overnight method next week (click here for the recipe I’ll be following) because I run late in the morning more often than not, and need to feed my little one’s belly before sending him off to daycare.

These are all really simple meals for toddler and I often give them to Royce throughout the day! Have you tried Happy Tots yogurt? I’ve got a coupon just for you to save – click here!

Loving Lately – Natural Baby Products

natural baby products

Oilogic Calming Cream | Honest Diaper Rash Cream | Honest Bug Spray  | Tom’s Toddler Toothpaste  |Wink Naturals Chest Rub

My last Loving Lately post was about hair & personal care, but this time I’m focusing on babies & kids rather than mama!

There’s a million and one reasons why you should care about natural products for yourself, but even more for your baby. Let’s just say that the most popular products for the little’s that have been around for years aren’t as safe and gentle as they claim to be. The safest products you can use are the ones that are made with ingredients right from our earth.

These are a couple of my favorite products that Royce and I have been using a lot recently. You might be wondering why I’m using the bug spray in the middle of winter – I’ve found that it really helps stop you scratching an itch whether it’s from a bug bite or even dry skin!

When I’m not using Royce’s special cream for eczema, I use the Oilogic calming cream at night since it has lavender to soothe him. Many other brands break him out so we usually stick to one kind of lotion, but this doesn’t at all. Plus I just love smelling the soft lavender scent when I’m cuddling him 😉

The product I’m most excited about that also has lavender is the Wink Naturals chest rub! You can shop the products on their website or here. Royce and I have been SO sick recently with nasty coughs from congestion and I’ve bee putting this on his chest (and mine) and even on the bottom of our feet. My coworker recommended that trick to me and I’m not sure if it works, but when someone says xyz helps them feel better… you try it!

The diaper rash cream is something that I don’t have to use that often anymore, but whenever I see any sign of pink or red down there I use it and this is by far the #1 product by the Honest Company I recommend to people. It works instantly and you see a huge difference within a single day.

Lastly, Tom’s toothpaste is something I’m really excited to use because Royce actually has teeth now. If you didn’t know, it took him forever to get his first two and now he has FOUR on the bottom and two coming down on top. I’m trying to get his good habits started early and he actually likes this toothpaste! He actually runs to me when he sees the toothbrush now and opens his mouth so I can brush them. It’s soooo cute.

If you have any recommendations for natural baby products we should try, leave them in a comment below!

Staying Stylish & Safe with Little Planet Organic

This post is sponsored by Carter’s; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

On Royce: Organic Polo-Style Romper

Since I became pregnant with Royce, I’ve done my research on baby products to make sure I was buying the best (and safest) products for him. During this time I also learned of the toxins in many every day household products and beauty products. I’ve switched a majority of those products to safer, organic versions or just natural versions. If you’ve ever wondered what I use for beauty products (because I think it’s hard to find affordable ones that work well) then check out this page.

All of that to say that I never did much research on organic COTTON. Yes, cotton. I’ve learned that the cotton industry often uses pesticides which can affect the environment and our health. I’m really picky on what I put onto Royce & I’s skin for body wash, lotions, etc. because your skin is the largest organ on your body, so now I plan to wear organic cotton as much as possible too!

Carter’s has launched Little Planet Organic for a Limited Edition line that Royce & I are SO excited about! Whether you have a newborn or a toddler in size 5T, they have something for your little one! All of the products are made from 100% certified organic cotton and continue to be affordable like their other collections. If you do a simple Google search on organic cotton, you’ll find most are pricey and pretty basic prints, patterns, & colors. I love that Carter’s made sure Little Planet is still trendy, colorful, and a great value.

Even though Royce looks like a little man in his romper, I also love their organic pajamas! I always call Royce “Sleepyhead” so we have to snag this set. Little Planet is Limited Edition so grab any items you see before they’re gone! Head over to Carters.com to see the full collection or check out a few of my favorites below!

2017 Christmas Photos

ON ME:  Lace blouse: Pink Blush | Jeans: Marshalls (can’t find exact pair, but they’re ankle length with a zipper on the sides & mid rise | Booties: DSW | Watch: Daniel Wellington (use code “BLOOMWITHSTYLE” for 15% off – even gift sets! | Earrings: T.J. Maxx

ON ROYCE: Plaid shirt: Ross (similar here) | Jeans: (came with outfit) | Shoes: Adidas

Photos are something SO special to me, and I think a big reason behind that is because my family never got photos taken when I was younger (only school photos of myself and my brother). I was always jealous of my friends whose families sent out Christmas cards!

So let’s cut to the chase – YES, I am really, really late on getting Christmas photos. I’m ordering through Walgreens rather than a “nicer” print shop because they do same day printing and I’ll be able to get them out ASAP. Although we’re behind, I figured I’d still send them to friends & family because I believe the whole point of doing Christmas cards & photos is to give your loved ones a photo of your family to cherish for years to come. With that being said, I don’t think they will care if they arrive before or after Christmas!

I hope you & your family have an amazing holiday season and a wonderful New Year! Don’t forget to check out this page with all my favorite NYE looks, office decor, & activewear. I don’t know about you, but one thing I definitely want to work on in 2018 is getting my butt in the gym more! I’m also hosting an AMAZING giveaway for any fashion lover on the 26th so don’t forget to stop by and enter. Trust me, you won’t want to miss it!

Royce’s 1st Birthday Party

This post is a littttle behind, but better late than never, right?

Royce is officially ONE! If you’ve been following me from the start, I have two things to say to you: Thank you & I love you. Without my close friends, family, and YOU, I wouldn’t be the mom I am today! Getting pregnant with Royce at 20 was terrifying and I was unsure if I’d be a good (or a decent) mother. Now that he’s one and turning into an intelligent, loving, and outgoing toddler, I feel much better about my parenting skills but know that I owe a great deal of it to those who have kept up with us and offered kind words and hugs, even if they are virtual.

Behind this sappy message is going to be details on his party, I promise! I seriously just want to express my thanks to everyone who has helped me become a better mother in any sort of way. Even through simple Instagram DM’s and Facebook messages, I have taken those words to heart. I want to hug each and every person who has had a part in both of our lives thus far!

All of that to say that his 1st birthday party was small(ish) but filled with fun! My plan was to NOT spend a lot because well, he’s only one, and everyone knows the first few parties are mostly for the adults 😉 For “real” food we had pulled chicken sandwiches, chips and black bean + corn salsa, a french onion dip, and a nacho cheese dip. We also had a fruit and veggie tray, baked mac & cheese, and cheesy potatoes. YUM. The dessert table shown above looks fancy but it was actually really inexpensive. All of the decor was from Oriental Trading, the Target dollar spot from this year + last, and surprisingly Meijer’s craft section! The little debbie cakes were a hit (and saved me a lot of money from buying themed cookies that would be $2+ each) and everyone LOVED the hot cocoa bar. My sweet cousin helped me with the smores on a stick and even those who aren’t huge s’mores eaters enjoyed them!

I have a normal cake lady that I found on Facebook and used for Royce’s baby shower, but unfortunately she was sick and couldn’t do his cake. I went back to the good ol’ Facebook and found another amazing local cake lady who made this beautiful birch tree cake. NO ONE thought it was real! Thank goodness I got photos of it before my cousin poked her finger in it and made a huge dent on it because she thought it was a tree log! If you’re in Rockford, search “Simply Sweet Expressions” and let her take care of the cake for your next event!

Funny story… Royce was not a happy camper when we sang to him. I think he was so overwhelmed by how many people were there and everyone singing at once that he started bawling. A week later on his actual birthday we took him to see Santa and he also cried then! Of course it’s not fun seeing him cry but he’s still so cute when he does.

Buffalo Plaid mug tumbler

The last super cute item that fit in perfectly with his birthday party theme is this travel tumbler from Made by Crafter Hours! I got several compliments on it at the party. I bought an adorable monogram clutch from this same shop maybe 2 years ago and I still use it once a month. The shop owner is the sweetest and really timely getting back to you about something. If you love monograms like me, definitely check out her shop (she’s also doing 12 days of deals on IG right now!)

Once again, thank you to everyone who helped make his birthday party a success and showered him with love. I can’t wait to plan another party and see what the trends are around this time next year!

Firsts & Beginnings

I’m so excited to tell you that Royce is officially walking as of last week! Time is passing by so quickly and I want it all to slow down. There’s been so many big firsts this year and as we’re rolling into the end of the year and Royce’s birthday, I know we’re just starting. Soon he’ll be running throughout the house and eating off my plate, ha!

Since we’re talking about food, I wanted to let you know about something that every mom and mom-to-be should be checking out! Enfamil is hosting a free formula for a year sweepstakes (this seriously could have saved so much money for me if I won)! You probably know that formula wasn’t my original plan for Royce, but I am so grateful that I don’t have to feel bad about it because he’s baby is getting all the necessary nutrients to grow strong and healthy. Because of his lip tie he wasn’t able to latch on correctly and we’re actually getting surgery on it this month!

The first brand I knew of was Enfamil because of their Beginnings kit, and I was able to try out a few different kids to see what worked for him. Royce is currently on Enfamil Reguline (which isn’t pictured in this post but can be found at Target, Walmart, Walgreens, etc) and since we got him on that, he hasn’t had any tummy issues. Enfamil Family Beginnings truly helps prepare and aid you for the future with you and your baby like it did with us. It has already helped save me over $100 on formula with the coupons delivered monthly, but you also get nutrition tips delivered in your email!

When you sign up for Enfamil Beginnings, you’ll get up to $400 in gifts AND a chance to win free formula for a year. I don’t know about you but I could definitely use that! Click here to sign up, and watch the cute little video Royce & I made below!

Cherishing Everyday Moments with Artifact Uprising

From the beginning of my pregnancy, I knew I wanted to have some sort of book to document special moments in. Facebook is fun and all, but what if I can’t access it one day? I know that the best times are the ones that can’t be written on paper or snapped in a photo, but I still wanted something to pass down to Royce when he’s older (and use to embarrass him in front of future girlfriends)!

My mother has expressed that one of her biggest regrets when it came to parenting is actually keeping photos! While we have some photos of my childhood and the typical school portraits that you can order wallet size prints of, we don’t have a ton and have lost a majority over the years. Modern baby books like The Story of You from Artifact Uprising let you simply keep photos together and jot down special things about each one. This is definitely something my mother could have used! If you’re attending a baby shower soon… keep this is mind so they don’t make the same mistake my mother did!

The best thing about this book is that it’s so easy to customize. You can download their app and order your own products (and prints) right from your phone. With the purchase of a book, you get free prints – that was a game changer for me!  Technology is obviously amazing and it’s so convenient that we can snap photos of almost anything, anywhere, simply using our phones. The only downside of that is that I know a majority of people don’t print out their photos on their phones.   Letting you in on a little secret here: A majority of the photos I put in Royce’s book where from my iPhone! I love that I actually get to share these photos somewhere else besides Facebook and Instagram!

The biggest thing that sets this book apart is the prompts. It really focuses on little moments and reflecting them rather than asking you to put a specific day something happened. When I glanced through another baby book, I felt really overwhelmed because it asked for you to write down almost every little detail about your pregnancy and baby’s first year. I didn’t know how I’d keep up with it all! The Story of You helps us busy parents feel less guilty and stressed about forgetting things. As I said before, it really is a game changer!

A baby book is definitely something I recommend all new parents to get, and especially for them to pick one that they know is good quality so it lasts for generations – did I mention that this one is made with a high quality linen fabric that’s good to last for years? If you’d like to save 10% on The Story of You for yourself or  expectant mama you know, use the code “TheStoryofYou10” (valid until 10/31/17). You can learn more about Artifact Uprising below. Head’s up – they make a ton of other themed books, so if you know a couple that’s engaged, keep this company in mind as well!

Graco Stroller Pink Blush Dress Mom Baseball Cap

Dress: c/o PinkBlush | Shoes: DSW | Stroller: Graco | Hat: 2911 Design Co. | On Royce: Carters

Who else is pumped that it’s football season? I’ll admit that I’m much more of a basketball fan (Go Bulls!) but I love how hyped up football season is – the barbecues, tailgates, brews… I could go on and on!

I’ve always been that girl who wants to dress up if I’m watching the game at someone’s house even if everyone else is wearing a jersey. This dress is PERFECT for the modern boy mom and wearing to a game! I love how stylish it is but  it’s still super casual – it ties up in the front making it look super sporty and like you’re wrapping another top around your waist! I wore it with sneakers and a baseball cap but I’ve also worn it with sandals. It’s also SO flattering – I have such a square/boxy body shape (at least I think so) and this makes me look like I have more curves than I actually do. I’ve worn it three times already and got compliments on it EVERY time!

On another note… Royce is 9 months… can you believe it? I know I’ll probably say this every month but time is flying by and soon he’ll be a year old! It’s the best feeling and also the saddest. He’s already falling asleep without me needing to rock him and very close to walking. He can stand up on his own in his crib or pack & play and lets go of the rail and stands without his hands for a few seconds before falling down. It’s so fun to watch! I’m already planning his first birthday party and know I’ll spend WAY too much money for a party he won’t even remember.

Don’t forget I’ll have a fall themed Mom Style Monday link up at the end of this month featuring scarves! I recently went shopping and found THE cutest one that I can’t wait to share. Until then, what are your plans for this season (aka the best season ever)? Any special traditions your family does?

My Infant Feeding Journey

Sponsored post: This post is sponsored by Happy Family. All content and opinions expressed below are completely my own.

When I was pregnant with Royce, I had a set plan on what I was going to do for feeding. It wasn’t even question – breastfeeding is just what you do. Unfortunately when he was born, that changed because of difficult circumstances and I had to go from attempting to breastfeed to solely pumping and eventually, formula.

I was devastated and felt like I failed as a mother because I couldn’t give him the most nutritious food he could have at that age. It was extremely difficult to deal with, especially since I’m a first time mom. I felt like I was bombarding my doctors with questions and being too needy, so I stopped and just dealt with the failure and guilt myself. I wish I had known of the Happy Family Infant Feeding Platform which was made to make sure all families feel supported during their infant feeding journey! Happy family created this wonderful platform for mothers (and fathers!) to offer infant feeding support from the hours of 8 AM – 8 PM EST via live chat. What I love the most is that Happy Family brought a team of Cornell-Certified nutritionists and lactation specialists that are parents themselves!

I am happy to update you all that after countless visits to the doctor and different types of formula (literally over 10!) and even donor milk, we have found something that is gentle enough on Royce’s belly and fills him up. It will never take the place of breastmilk, but it is the second best thing I can do for him at the moment and I am thankful that I have reached a place where I don’t feel shame over what we had to do.

Lastly, several friends who have children around the same age as Royce have told me that they struggled with breastfeeding and formula as well, so I want to say that no matter what your journey is, the experience will be unique to your family and have its ups and downs. For any new moms who may be reading this, please take advantage of the many free classes offered by your local hospitals and the Happy Family Infant Feeding Platform . It’s such a relief knowing that I have this amazing resource to use if I have more babies!

With love,
Cailyn Jade
