Happy Saturday! Today my heart & soul turned S I X months old. I truly can’t believe it! Everyone has told me that the first year flies by the quickest, and it really has. Every day Royce is showing us something new. I have no idea how he got this big, old, and smart, but he has… and I kind of want it all to slow down!
I know, I know, I know – I’m silly for getting so excited for a six month old’s birthday, but these milestones mean a lot to me! You wouldn’t believe how much people were making fun of me today at Party City when I got these balloons blown up. Luckily the staff understood and have the same mindset as me: Every day is worth celebrating 😉 If Royce was turning 21 ½ , we’d be popping champagne right now just because!
6 month UPDATE: Royce can now sit up prettttty much on his own without assistance. Sometimes when I lay him down against a pillow, he’ll use his strong little ab muscles and lift himself up completely! We think he’s starting to teethe because the past few days he has been SO fussy making it very hard to get things done and get any time for myself. It’s been so rough on me physically because he calms down more when held, so he’s basically demanding that 24/7. While it’s hard for me and I’m sure it’s even harder for him, I can’t wait to see his little teeth come in!
Royce now recognizes his name (he’ll turn when you say Royce but when you say any other word he won’t turn around immediately), can give high fives, and loves being read to at night, especially Bible stories! He’s eating stage one foods now about twice a day and loves the banana-orange flavor! He’ll open his mouth up SO wide and start hitting the tray when he wants more. He’s even fell asleep allll by himself lately in the crib and won’t even need a pacifier. I love it!
As you can see, his high chair came in! I didn’t even put a high chair on his registry because I was like “That’s soooo far down the line and it’s not a necessity right now.” What the – well it’s time! I’m going to say this over and over again, but I cannot believe how fast time has passed. Anyway – his high chair has such a trendy and different pattern than most which is why it caught my eye. Even though it’s blue, the pattern could definitely work for a girl too (if I have more babies down the line). I’ve linked his exact same one along with a few others under $100 below!
Since I know you’re wondering, I’ll talk about the other item details now: I got his cake, candle, and birthday hat at Walmart. I didn’t want to go over the top and spend a bunch of money (I have a 1 year party to plan in six months and for that I will go BIG!) so we went pretty basic. Plus, I think these adorable balloons from Floating Affections steal the show and should be the center of attention! They came JUST in time for his little celebration even though I ordered them last minute, and all you have to do is attach the tassel string once you get it inflated. I love that they come as a set (I actually got 3 but just featured 2!) so you have one with your phrase and two with confetti. The colors can be completely customized which is my favorite part! I wanted his balloons to match his high chair and they did perfectly!
P.S. The cake was only for us (my family) and not Royce! We let him put his hands in it for basically just a sensory activity, and while he got it on his face a little bit, he did NOT consume much. He may have tried to lick it but nothing was actually swallowed! We are very aware of what babies should and shouldn’t eat at his age and are in no rush for him to eat “adult” food!
Hope you enjoy your weekend as much as Royce enjoyed getting down & dirty with cake!
