Who else is pumped that it’s football season? I’ll admit that I’m much more of a basketball fan (Go Bulls!) but I love how hyped up football season is – the barbecues, tailgates, brews… I could go on and on!

I’ve always been that girl who wants to dress up if I’m watching the game at someone’s house even if everyone else is wearing a jersey. This dress is PERFECT for the modern boy mom and wearing to a game! I love how stylish it is but  it’s still super casual – it ties up in the front making it look super sporty and like you’re wrapping another top around your waist! I wore it with sneakers and a baseball cap but I’ve also worn it with sandals. It’s also SO flattering – I have such a square/boxy body shape (at least I think so) and this makes me look like I have more curves than I actually do. I’ve worn it three times already and got compliments on it EVERY time!

On another note… Royce is 9 months… can you believe it? I know I’ll probably say this every month but time is flying by and soon he’ll be a year old! It’s the best feeling and also the saddest. He’s already falling asleep without me needing to rock him and very close to walking. He can stand up on his own in his crib or pack & play and lets go of the rail and stands without his hands for a few seconds before falling down. It’s so fun to watch! I’m already planning his first birthday party and know I’ll spend WAY too much money for a party he won’t even remember.

Don’t forget I’ll have a fall themed Mom Style Monday link up at the end of this month featuring scarves! I recently went shopping and found THE cutest one that I can’t wait to share. Until then, what are your plans for this season (aka the best season ever)? Any special traditions your family does?

Kimono: Pink Blush | Tank: Wet Seal (old – see similar options at end of post) | Tote: Barrington Gifts | Jeans: T.J. Maxx (old) | Shoes: Target | Earrings: Stella & Dot

Welcome to Mom Style Monday, a monthly link party where my fellow stylish mamas and I share our favorite outfits and trends! There’s a new theme every month, so be sure to join in next month with your own Mom Style! This month we’re sharing our favorite fall transition outfits!

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I LOVE Pink Blush. I learned of their store when I was pregnant with Royce because they have the cutest maternity pieces, but was even more thrilled to know they have options for all women! This kimono is perfect for a fall transition and I loved it so much that I also got it in black for a more edgier look! I love throwing this kimono over even the simplest, cheapest tank to dress it up and make you feel more put together! If you want a day to night type of look, you can wear a “dressier” tank like the one I have on!

I’ve been wearing these earrings from Stella & Dot like crazy lately! They’re the perfect size and also amp up any look. Another amazing find I have to share with you are these fun lace up heeled sandals! I got them on sale from Target and have been wearing them with everything since – dresses, skirts, jeans, even shorts!

Side note – these beautiful blooms are leftover from an event I had this weekend. I made centerpieces for one of my best friend’s sister’s couple’s wedding shower and got the most BEAUTIFUL garden roses. I love the touch of peach they have in them! If you’re in the Rockford or Chicagoland area and need a florist for your next event, definitely let me know! I absolutely love my major now and getting to create beautiful floral arrangements for others!

Now it’s time to link up! Share your favorite fall transition looks (or any recent outfit post!) and be sure to comment on at least one other blog post in the party. Then join us next month (the last Monday of every month) where we’ll be sharing our favorite fall scarves!

10 #NSale Baby Items You Need to Snag

Nordstrom Sale

Striped 2 piece set | Blender | Diaper bag | Slip on shoes | Firetruck rain coat | Honest Company gift set | “Night Life” tee| Tree bookshelf | Piggy bank | Forest 2 piece set

I’m sure ALL you’ve been hearing about is the Nordstrom sale from your friends and favorite bloggers, but can you really be mad at us? It’s such a good sale and has some of the best brands at prices you can’t beat. What I love the most is that unlike most sales, you can still buy the item after because they aren’t trying to get rid of the products to make room for new. These are NEW ARRIVALS! The prices just increase to normal when the sale is over. Basically, if you come to the party early, you get the food fresh out the oven. If you come late, it’s still good, but not AS good.

I’ve put together my favorite baby items (specifically for a baby boy!) that you’ll want to grab before prices increase ON August 7th. Simply click the link for the item you’re looking for above and let me know if you’d already snagged any of my favorites. Happy shopping!

The One Product Your Baby Needs To Be Healthy For Life

It’s almost every mother’s top goal to keep their child as healthy (and safe) as possible. I’ve researched countless things from the safest diaper brands to the best formula and even the best schools in our area already. You probably know that I wasn’t able to breastfeed for as long as I’d like, but with my research I found that some women actually get donor milk for their babies from either surrogate mothers, a mama who overproduces, or even someone whose baby has weaned and they’d like to help another baby.

Of course, I didn’t learn about this great news until after Royce had tried over 10 formulas. You read that right, TEN. I think the number is actually close to 15 now. I can only imagine what his little tummy was going through because there were a lot of fussy nights and weird colored poop.

Naturally, I wanted to do everything to help solve his tummy issues. I looked into getting donor milk and probiotics. I found one of two at the store for babies but NOTHING like Evivo.

Evivo is the first and only product that is clinically proven to restore a baby’s gut microbiome to its original, natural state for life-long health. I didn’t know that a baby’s gut during the first 6 months of life can really determine their lifelong health. It’s NEVER too early to start planning their future – many parents start saving for their child’s college before they even have a baby, and buy health/life/dental insurance shortly after they’re born. Wouldn’t you want to set your child up to have a healthy immune system and metabolism too?

The directions are right on the box on how to prepare – just measure, mix with breast milk, and serve! It’s incredibly easy and Evivo probiotics are clincally proven to:

  1. Maximize every bit of breast milk’s nutrients to feed
  2.  Restore the levels of B. infantis in baby’s gut
  3.  Protect baby’s gut microbiome for a healthy metabolism and immune system
  4.  Defend against bad bacteria linked to eczema, allergies, diabetes and obesity

Friends & fam, I’m giving you a coupon code to get $10 off an Evivo Probiotics Starter Kit of 4 weeks or more! This offer is only available for the first 50 readers so act fast – use the code “ev7-a8d999c9” at checkout to score your deal!

So, I’d love to know how you’re keeping your baby strong and healthy! What are you doing now to give your baby everything he/she needs? Leave a comment below!

Welcome to Mom Style Monday, a monthly link party where my fellow stylish mamas share our favorite outfits and trends! There’s a new theme every month, so be sure to join in next month with your own Mom Style! This month we’re sharing our favorite beach and vacay themed outfits!

It’s no secret that palm print has been a HUGE trend this summer –  I featured an adorable palm print romper that everyone loved on Instagram (see picture) a while back and now I’m wearing this fun skirt! This look is perfect if you’re having a date night or even going to the beach (just swap the heels for sandals)! I linked a similar skirt I’ve been eyeing for a loooong time that’s fuller and dressier below.

Everything I’m wearing is REALLY affordable. It’s easy to recreate this look because there’s obviously tons of places you can get a black tank and heels, but I’ve linked the ones I’m wearing still! My bag is a dupe for a much more expensive Rebecca Minkoff version and found it months ago. The earrings are striped and can make a simple outfit stand out more! I love mixing prints and patterns and immediately thought of pairing these earrings with the skirt when it arrived. The best part about them is that they’re from Target (easily accessible!) and there’s TONS of boutiques who sell them as well but for much more!

On another note, summer is almost over and I have yet to go to the beach once! There’s been a lot of different things happening in my life that have prevented me from going to Chicago as much as I’d like to, but I plan to go at least once before summer ends! Part of me misses being in high school/college because every time I go to a store I see back to school things and I want to buy all the stationary!

Now it’s time to link up! Share your favorite vacay-ready look (or any recent outfit post!) and be sure to comment on at least one other blog post in the party. Then join us next month (the last Monday of every month) for a fall transitions theme!

Becoming AcneFree This Summer

This post has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and AcneFree. All opinions are mine alone. #AcneFreeSummer #CollectiveBias

If you hover over the image above, you’ll get the direct link to my new favorite skin care products!

I’ve always had clear skin – I can probably count on one hand the times in high school or college when I had a major breakout and I was embarrassed. That’s how little acne and breakouts have affected me.

After having Royce, EVERYTHING is different with my body and my skin is one of the biggest. A lot of people thought I was having a girl (including myself) because my skin was breaking out and there is an old wives tale that girls take the beauty away from the mother!

This summer, I’ve noticed my skin to continue to change and I’ve had more breakouts than normal. As you can probably see in the photos above, I have little “heat bumps” along my jawline and cheeks. Last week I also had a random pimple come and of course I was so bothered by it that I messed with it. After learning about AcneFree products at Walgreens (also carried at Walmart and Amazon!), specifically their Maximum Strength Terminator cream, I used them and within a few hours I could already tell that it was getting smaller and more noticeable – probably because it’s the most powerful benzoyl peroxide acne medication available without a prescription.

The other product that I love is the 24 Hour Acne Clearing System. AcneFree is the only brand that makes acne clearing systems formulated with Advanced Micro-Benzoyl Peroxide. Micro-sized benzoyl peroxide is designed to work faster and penetrate deeper into pores, which is probably why it works SO well. I kid you not, I used the system twice a day (as directed) for few days and sent my friend a snapchat and he replies, “Your skin looks really clear, you don’t need a filter!”

Whether you’re just now starting a skin care regimen or looking for a simpler one, AcneFree is extremely simple to follow. The steps are listed right on the bottle. You start by using the oil-free purifying cleanser which helps exfoliate and remove pore-clogging dirt and excess oil on your face. Step 2 is the renewing toner – it helps balance the skin tone and control oil. I used to never use toners but can totally see why this is a must. I love this one because it also has vitamins, aloe, chamomile, and witch hazel and my mother has always SWORN by witch hazel for your skin! Last is the repair lotion which helps lock the products into your skin and continues the acne clearing! This has really helped keep my skin moisturized. Most acne products make my skin feel very dry and tight so I especially love having this lotion as the final step!

These products have truly helped me wear less makeup this summer and feel more carefree! I haven’t worn makeup for the past week when going to work because I’m not as self conscious about my skin. Even if you love makeup and wear it every day, having a clear foundation is key because it will help you simplify your look! Most skin care I’ve heard good things about also don’t fit my budget and AcneFree is affordable AND easily accessible. If you’d like to learn more about the brand, follow them on Facebook and Twitter! If you can’t wait to try these products, click on the very first image in this post to be directly taken to each product I mentioned!

Healthy Banana Coffee Smoothie Recipe

Banana Iced Coffee Smoohie

I’ve been on a smoothie kick! I make them probably twice a day – one for breakfast and one for a snack after work. I wanted to add coffee into one and created the perfect recipe for a coffee smoothie by experimenting!

There’s a few things you can alter in this (if need be). The most important thing is the type of coffee you have. Some days I use organic medium roast coffee, others I use the leftover Foldgers coffee my dad makes, and today I used a Starbucks k-cup! It was vanilla flavored which helped because I’m not someone who can drink coffee black, and the banana surely helped sweetened it up too. Since bananas have natural sugar, there’s no need for more sugar! You can also alter the milk, however it will add a bit more calories and less calcium than my version. If it helps, a LOT of my friends and family swear they won’t like almond milk and when they try it, they’re surprised at how much they love it!

This is definitely my new go-to smoothie! You probably know I’m a HUGE coffee snob so I’m going to start drinking one several times a week. I get energy for work after drinking this and it also fills me up so I’m not looking for snacks as soon as I get there. I’m really bad at remembering to eat something for breakfast so this smoothie and a granola bar are life savers (or weight savers, ha)! You can even add a scoop of peanut butter for protein! There’s tons of other benefits of this smoothie even without peanut butter though – bananas are known for helping keep you full longer, black coffee gives a jolt of caffeine and is low in fat, and almond milk is even lower in fat than cow’s milk. Why wouldn’t you want to try it?

Take that, Starbucks!

Banana Coffee Smoothie

Last Minute Father’s Day Gift Ideas

This Father’s Day is extra special because my boyfriend is now a dad, and MY dad is now a grandfather! Gift giving has always been tricky for both of them because they have everything already – and what do you get someone who has everything? I’ve put together a few gift ideas if you’re feeling stuck like me, and a sneak peek of Neal’s first Father’s Day gift!

1. Experiences. Men would much rather go to an event or do something fun than opening a gift, or at least all the men in my life would! Baseball games are reasonably priced, and if you’re not a baseball gal, just buy an extra ticket or two so his buddies can tag along! Besides sporting events, Neal really enjoyed himself when we went to a wine & painting class. Make sure it’s BYOB so if your man isn’t a wine guy, he can bring the brew himself! Special experiences with the children are an added bonus – Daddy & Me swim classes, go cart racing, etc!

2. Upgrade something he already has – When I stumbled upon Freely Give, I knew that their Jesus Bible box (Luxury Edition) was the PERFECT gift for Neal. He needs a new Bible and mentioned a few weeks ago that he wanted a nicer water bottle to take with him to the gym and specifically something that keeps the water cold for a long time. This gift box literally couldn’t be more perfect because it has what he needs and it’s even customized with a fun Bible verse! For those of you who don’t know, Jeremiah 29:11 is our favorite Bible verse and a reason why we chose Jeremiah as Royce’s middle name!

What I love even more about Freely Give is that they are a faith-based company who raises money for schools and education facilities in South Africa. You can learn more about their story and mission here! It truly does make me happy when I can support a small biz or any business that is huge on philanthropy.

3. Think about what he does daily or weekly. Does he go to the gym after work? Get him a new duffle bag or pair of training shoes. Does he trim his beard or cut his own hair? Invest in new grooming tools. Sometimes doing something that’s simple and practical is appreciated more. Gifts like this are what my dad personally likes, especially because he hates when we spend money on him!

4. Cater to him. While motherhood is hard, sometimes we forget about what the men go through too. If you don’t already, cater to him on this special day – Wake up and cook him breakfast, offer to drive when you’re in the car, give him a massage (if you’re the partner!), and if he has plans to go out with his friends, let him.

5. If you’re not feeling creative or running super last minute, leave it up to the kids! They always have great ideas. Pinterest and Youtube are my go-tos when looking for DIY crafts for holidays. Dad’s do a lot of projects for us, so he’ll be sure to appreciate them taking the time to make something specifically for him.

Head over to Freely Give to see their uniquely curated gift boxes! I love that they feature trendy items like adult coloring books, water bottles, journals, and more!

My Infant Feeding Journey

Sponsored post: This post is sponsored by Happy Family. All content and opinions expressed below are completely my own.

When I was pregnant with Royce, I had a set plan on what I was going to do for feeding. It wasn’t even question – breastfeeding is just what you do. Unfortunately when he was born, that changed because of difficult circumstances and I had to go from attempting to breastfeed to solely pumping and eventually, formula.

I was devastated and felt like I failed as a mother because I couldn’t give him the most nutritious food he could have at that age. It was extremely difficult to deal with, especially since I’m a first time mom. I felt like I was bombarding my doctors with questions and being too needy, so I stopped and just dealt with the failure and guilt myself. I wish I had known of the Happy Family Infant Feeding Platform which was made to make sure all families feel supported during their infant feeding journey! Happy family created this wonderful platform for mothers (and fathers!) to offer infant feeding support from the hours of 8 AM – 8 PM EST via live chat. What I love the most is that Happy Family brought a team of Cornell-Certified nutritionists and lactation specialists that are parents themselves!

I am happy to update you all that after countless visits to the doctor and different types of formula (literally over 10!) and even donor milk, we have found something that is gentle enough on Royce’s belly and fills him up. It will never take the place of breastmilk, but it is the second best thing I can do for him at the moment and I am thankful that I have reached a place where I don’t feel shame over what we had to do.

Lastly, several friends who have children around the same age as Royce have told me that they struggled with breastfeeding and formula as well, so I want to say that no matter what your journey is, the experience will be unique to your family and have its ups and downs. For any new moms who may be reading this, please take advantage of the many free classes offered by your local hospitals and the Happy Family Infant Feeding Platform . It’s such a relief knowing that I have this amazing resource to use if I have more babies!

Moving On Up (To The High Chair): Royce’s 6 Month Update!

Happy Saturday! Today my heart & soul turned S I X months old. I truly can’t believe it! Everyone has told me that the first year flies by the quickest, and it really has. Every day Royce is showing us something new. I have no idea how he got this big, old, and smart, but he has… and I kind of want it all to slow down!

I know, I know, I know – I’m silly for getting so excited for a six month old’s birthday, but these milestones mean a lot to me! You wouldn’t believe how much people were making fun of me today at Party City when I got these balloons blown up. Luckily the staff understood and have the same mindset as me: Every day is worth celebrating 😉 If Royce was turning 21 ½ , we’d be popping champagne right now just because!

6 month UPDATE: Royce can now sit up prettttty much on his own without assistance. Sometimes when I lay him down against a pillow, he’ll use his strong little ab muscles and lift himself up completely! We think he’s starting to teethe because the past few days he has been SO fussy making it very hard to get things done and get any time for myself. It’s been so rough on me physically because he calms down more when held, so he’s basically demanding that 24/7. While it’s hard for me and I’m sure it’s even harder for him, I can’t wait to see his little teeth come in!

Royce now recognizes his name (he’ll turn when you say Royce but when you say any other word he won’t turn around immediately), can give high fives, and loves being read to at night, especially Bible stories! He’s eating stage one foods now about twice a day and loves the banana-orange flavor! He’ll open his mouth up SO wide and start hitting the tray when he wants more. He’s even fell asleep allll by himself lately in the crib and won’t even need a pacifier. I love it!

As you can see, his high chair came in! I didn’t even put a high chair on his registry because I was like “That’s soooo far down the line and it’s not a necessity right now.” What the – well it’s time! I’m going to say this over and over again, but I cannot believe how fast time has passed. Anyway – his high chair has such a trendy and different pattern than most which is why it caught my eye. Even though it’s blue, the pattern could definitely work for a girl too (if I have more babies down the line). I’ve linked his exact same one along with a few others under $100 below!

Since I know you’re wondering, I’ll talk about the other item details now: I got his cake, candle, and birthday hat at Walmart. I didn’t want to go over the top and spend a bunch of money (I have a 1 year party to plan in six months and for that I will go BIG!) so we went pretty basic. Plus, I think these adorable balloons from Floating Affections steal the show and should be the center of attention! They came JUST in time for his little celebration even though I ordered them last minute, and all you have to do is attach the tassel string once you get it inflated. I love that they come as a set (I actually got 3 but just featured 2!) so you have one with your phrase and two with confetti. The colors can be completely customized which is my favorite part! I wanted his balloons to match his high chair and they did perfectly!

P.S. The cake was only for us (my family) and not Royce! We let him put his hands in it for basically just a sensory activity, and while he got it on his face a little bit, he did NOT consume much. He may have tried to lick it but nothing was actually swallowed! We are very aware of what babies should and shouldn’t eat at his age and are in no rush for him to eat “adult” food!

Hope you enjoy your weekend as much as Royce enjoyed getting down & dirty with cake!

With love,
Cailyn Jade
