Dry Shampoo Favorites For Every Budget

January 20, 2019      bloomwithstyle      5 Comments

It’s no secret that I’m a lover of dry shampoo but I wasn’t always this way! The crazy busy life of motherhood has sucked me into using it more as I don’t have much time to put myself together. However, when I first tried dry shampoo out YEARS ago, I was really unimpressed. It’s supposed to let you go a day or two in between washes and refresh your oily hair, right? Well my hair looked and felt even dirtier than normal. That’s because I was using all the wrong ones and not paying attention to reviews. Dry shampoo, in my opinion, is definitely a hair product you should invest in! There’s a lot on the market and I’m going to help you by sharing a few of my favorites, especially for thin to medium hair thickness.

Most Affordable – VERB Ghost Dry Oil ($16)

My hairstylist gave me this to try to extend the life of my blowout as she uses VERB products a lot. The Ghost Dry Oil definitely refreshes and smooths my hair without weighing it down. The only somewhat negative thing I’ll say about this one is that I believe it’s better for those with thin hair like me or truly for the purpose – to extend a blowout for a day or two. If my hair is REALLY greasy, this isn’t my favorite because it’s more lightweight than other options and some days I need something to absorb ALL the oils.

Best For Texture – Drybar Triple Sec ($26)

For anyone with thin hair like me, the Triple Sec is great for adding volume which I always lack.  It’s also great for adding texture for a tousled look! This one absorbs more oils and is great for both fine to medium hair types. It definitely has the strongest small out of all three, so I would consider that before you buy. Some don’t like it even though it doesn’t bother me at all, but it does come in two scents now!

All Around Favorite – Kevin Murphy Doo Over ($37)

I can’t say enough great things about this dry shampoo! I actually tested this first in college when it was gifted to me. Before I even tried it, I was a little disappointed because of the price of it. After using it many times, I will admit that it is definitely worth the price and have repurchased it twice since then. If you know me, you know I’m REALLY cheap and always think I can find a similar product for a lower cost so that’s a big deal. Doo Over absorbs the most oils without leaving any residue, even on thin hair! The best part about it is that it also serves as a hairspray with providing a light, flexible hold. I’ve tried a number of dry shampoos and NOTHING comes close to this one!

Now a question for YOU – have you tried the dry shampoo in powder form? I’ve heard of many using this kind and loving it but I love the convenience of having it in a bottle to spray and go quickly. Let me know if you have a recommendation I should try! šŸ™‚
